    1. Developing a curricular program to integrate/support engineering, making, tinkering, robotics in your school - Edward Chen
Location: Large Presentation Room (where we were this morning)
If you went to this space, my apologies for not being in there on time. I was not certain when folks where moving over to the space.
Here are some of my own notes about the different approaches on how to integrate and support these programs into a school:
    - Using 'Take Apart' as a method to use reverse engineering as a method of learning. Nueva has 'take apart' sessions regularly just for this purposes - sometimes as summer camp sessions, after-school enrichment, or clubs.
    - Use robotics or Maker clubs as wedges to create these learning opportunities
    - Integrated learning opportunities with teachers, which require a knowledge of their curriculum, units, timing, scope and sequence to help them insert such projects in a relatively smooth fashion.
Castijella's model starts with showing and informing teachers of the curricular intersects within a project.
    - Build multi-layered integration projects - Nueva's solar house project involves math, science, art, and world language teachers working together.
    - Create open lab hours - during lunch, and after-school (as an after-school offering) are good starts. Even during school breaks for deep dives, if your staffing can handle such hours.
    - Develop Design Thinking or Entrepreneurship programs. These overarching programs can have a strong engineering, design, and creative extensions, which foster engineering and making.
    - Above all, (this probably doesn't need reminding), but focus on the learning outcomes to drive your initiative. What is it that you want students to learn? Each school has a different focus - some on resiliency, some on creative, some on design. Each foci drives your program in a slightly different direction.
    - Budget and support - In addition to dollars for equipment, look at who will support these programs. Even if you have a 3D printer, do you have, or can build, expertise within your human resources to properly support and maintain such a device? More importantly, is this a person who can be creative and educationally focused enough to provide integration and/or project ideas?
